Answer: The motion detector can detect motion up to 25ft away. -

Is wiring required for installation?
Answer: No, this motion sensor can be easily installed without any tools or wiring. -
Question:
Could I use this to power off a fan when triggered. and then have the fan turn back on after motion is not detected?
Answer: This unit will conduct power to its' connected source for either 1,2,5,10 or 20 minutes depending on how you set it up when motion is detected. As long as the fan has a power consumption of 240 watts or less it should be OK. Just remember this unit has a maximum power rating of 240 watts. Using it with anything that consumes more power than that maybe risky at best if not down right unsafe. -
Question:
How is the sensor unit mounted?
Answer: I used 3m double sided tape. You can also use a small screw as there is a mounting hole on the back of the unit. -

Does it work in the dark?
Answer: Yes, the range changes a little bit when is dark therefore you will have to be closer to the sensor in order to activate the switch. -

How long is the cord?
Answer: The cord is just short of 6 feet. About 5 feet 10 inches. -

How long would the light be on when it turns on from motion?
Answer: It actually has to turn the light on first. I could NEVER get mine to work - ever. Not a good product at all. -

I'm curious if the sensor wire cord has LIVE 120 VOLTS going through it or is it just low voltage just enough to power the motion sensor?
Answer: The sensor wire is three conductors. It is low-voltage (and appears to be isolated from the mains, 120V). The black conductor is ground. The red conductor is +3.7V. The blue conductor is the signal to the main unit to turn on the outlet. It does this by going high (i.e. it has voltage on it). Since the PIR sensor in the device is prone to false triggers from air currents, I replaced mine with a Microwave Doppler sensor. -
Question:
What's the range of the sensor? Anyone try this behind a glass enclosure?
Answer: It does at least 12ft+ in my kitchen. I just tested behind glass for you, it does NOT work. -
Question:
Will the motion sensor sense my cat using litter box. Would like to run on a window fan for a timed period.
Answer: I don't think it will sense a cat. I have racoons sometimes lingering at my back yard, but they never trigger my string lights, which are controled by the sensor. -
Question:
Would this properly detect motion outside if I keep it out of the elements?
Answer: I doubt it. I couldn't get it to properly detect motion indoors.

The Westek MLC12BC-4 is an indoor plug-in corded motion activated light control with a range of at least 12ft+ in normal conditions and in the dark users will have to be closer to the sensor to activate the switch. It has a cord length of just under 6ft and can conduct power to sources of 240 watts or less for 1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 minutes upon motion detection. However, this device had difficulties functioning most of the time, and according to some customers' reviews, it was prone to false triggers from air currents. Additionally, it cannot detect motion behind a glass enclosure. Therefore, it is not ideal for outdoor use.
