The cap on top needs to be loosened for the air to vent. It can be taken apart to clean, and it is heavy-duty. It is important to note that it must be installed vertically. Although it can be used to purge air from a well water line after the pump and before it gets to the house, it should be installed at the highest point in the line. It can also be used to replace bleeder valves located throughout a baseboard system, but it is a bit of an overkill. Generally, it is used on the main line going out of a boiler. It can also be located on top of a drain vent line located at the bottom of heavy cast-iron radiators. The product has received positive reviews from customers, who praised its effectiveness, heavy-duty build, and ease of installation. However, one customer reported that it started leaking within 60 days of installation.
