The fitting is for ½" Nominal Sch 40 PVC pipe, the outside diameter of ½" Sch 40 pipe is .840". So if the OD measures ½" or .5" it will not work. This NIBCO PVC Pipe Fitting, Tee, Schedule 40, has had some mixed customer reviews, with some customers disappointed in the sizing or description of the product, whilst others are pleased with the price and quality. One customer in particular noted that whilst they were using the fittings for a purpose unrelated to water flow, they had been sawn in half and used successfully with the proper cleaner and glues in their irrigation and sprinkler systems. Other satisfied customers noted that the product was a good price and had done the job for their intended use, such as in the case of a Jandy pool heater. A few customers expressed disappointment with the sizing of the fittings, either because they misjudged the size or found the listed inch to be larger than they anticipated. Overall, this product seems to be satisfactory for those who make accurate size Considerations and use with the correct methods, however, a few cautionary tales exist where assumptions led to disappointment.
