The Pur Pitcher Replacement Filter is manufactured in China and each filter is sealed in its pouch. It works well for removing impurities, resulting in no flavor alteration. Installation instructions include rinsing the filter in water, filling the tank with cold water and filtering it through and discarding it a few times. However, it is not designed to filter fluoride. Some customers have complained about the cardboard used for the boxes and mildew/mold-like taste. There are also reports of blue microplastic particles in the water, resulting in an off taste/smell after 2 months of use. However, most customers have claimed that these filters work well and, many say that it is a good replacement for Brita filters.
