The Tama Japanese Oak 7A drum sticks are a nice variation from the typical American Hickory stick. They are slightly heavier than the Vic Firth sticks, providing a little more power and inertia when striking. While they might not replace the Vic Firth sticks, they are a good alternative for those looking for a little more mass in a stick. One user found them to be perfect for their son to practice with, but noted they left marks on furniture. Another user found the sticks to be durable but tad thinner than expected. In Japan, the sticks were celebrated as a gift for a musician turning 60 years old. One user found them comfortable to play with, but notes that they broke quickly during use.
