Hardware Essentials Brackets 853408 Editorial Review

**** The Hillman Hardware Essentials 853408 Extended Neck Handrail Brackets in brass have received mixed reviews from customers, primarily revolving around their functionality and dimensions. Many users have praised these brackets for their extended neck feature, which provides the necessary clearance in situations where standard brackets fall short. For instance, one customer highlighted how the brackets facilitated a safe installation in a 140-year-old staircase by projecting the handrail adequately away from a window sill, thus preventing finger pinching. This sentiment was echoed in another review where a buyer appreciated the additional 1.5 inches of clearance achieved by using these brackets in conjunction with existing chair rails. However, the product has faced criticism regarding its sizing. One reviewer noted a discrepancy, stating that the brackets were advertised as 7 3/4 inches long but were only 4 3/4 inches long upon arrival. Such inConsistencies have led to frustration, resulting in returns. Furthermore, while many users noted that the brackets feel sturdy, some chose to replace the screws provided with longer ones for added security. Aesthetic preferences also emerged as a point of Consideration; customers remarked on the bright brass finish, with one user wishing for a more antique look. Overall, while the handrail brackets serve a vital functional purpose and have worked well for specific applications, Prospective buyers should be wary of potential sizing issues and set their expectations accordingly. **
