The product is effective in stopping rust but doesn't prevent it from returning. For new ferrous metals, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces, the surface must be rinsed with water after using this product. Also, the product should not be used for chrome or plated surfaces. This product is water-based and not suitable for use in the ocean. The product may need to be reapplied annually, as per customers' opinions. Some customers experienced rust recurrence after using the product for multiple times. Moreover, some customers reported that the product did not perform as expected, leaving behind undesirable results. The price of the Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer has gone up, which was deemed ridiculous by some Consumers.
