However, there are some drawbacks to be aware of. The book contains errors, but most of them have been corrected in the edition received by the reviewer. The practice test CD included is not always reflective of the actual exam questions and contains references to material not found in the book. The book also includes a lot of superfluous material and external references, making it more suitable as a teaching aid than a standalone exam prep book. On the positive side, the book does include real-world examples and the authors' expertise is evident in their writing. The grouping of exam sections and the retirement of SQL Server 2005 exams make it difficult to prepare for certain sections. Despite these shortcomings, the reviewer was able to pass the 70-431 exam using this book. Overall, the set of books provides the necessary information for certification and is a good resource for learning SQL Server 2005.
