The metal tabs on the frame need to be bent back in order to remove the black backing piece. Behind the matting, there is a piece of corrugated cardboard with a pre-cut circle for the record. This circle needs to be popped out and discarded, and then the cardboard should be reinstalled behind the matting. The record can then be placed face down in the circle opening, and the frame can be tilted back to verify the record's level. After applying light pressure around the perimeter of the record, it will fit snugly in place. Finally, the backing is reinstalled, and the tabs are bent back to their original position.
