Pink Floyd Format: Vinyl Rock Editorial Review
### Editorial Review The 2018 remix of Pink Floyd’s "Animals" has revitalized the classic 1977 album, significantly enhancing its sonic quality. Renowned for its subdued and somewhat hollow sound, the original recording often left listeners craving a more robust auditory experience. The new mix, overseen by esteemed engineer James Guthrie, transforms the listening experience into a modern realm, infusing it with clarity and depth that was previously lacking. This 2018 remix is available on Blu-ray, featuring multiple audio configurations including a stellar 5.1 surround sound and high-resolution stereo mix. Reviewers Consistently praise the warmth and richness of the uncompressed LPCM versions, which bring forth a dynamic range that allows every instrument and vocal detail to stand out. In particular, the remix elevates the lower frequency sounds and adjusts the treatments of vocals and instruments, creating a well-blended atmosphere that enhances the emotional weight of the album’s lyrical themes. Listeners have noted that the surround mix is both immersive and balanced, avoiding the overwhelming sensation that sometimes characterizes modern remixes. Instead, it provides a clear, enjoyable listening environment where textures and details are highlighted without distraction. Fans of the original will appreciate the careful preservation of the essence of Pink Floyd while enjoying a more vibrant reimagining of their beloved classic. Overall, the 2018 remix of "Animals" is a compelling purchase for both dedicated Pink Floyd fans and new listeners alike, representing a Considerable improvement that breathes new life into this iconic work. ### Pros and Cons **
