Anime Editorial Review
The Blu-ray release of Wicked City has some mixed reviews. While visually impressive with great animation and an atmospheric setting, the plotting is filled with generic tropes that were common in adult-targeted animation of the era. The characters are also mostly one-dimensional, and the movie is said to be "randomly rapey." It is noted that the visuals and creature designs are fantastic, and the Discotek version has an excellent transfer. However, opinions on the movie are mixed, and some viewers may prefer to stick with their nostalgic memories of it.
