- DMEM/F-12 is a 1:1 mixture of DMEM and Ham’s F-12, containing amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, and other components necessary for multi-type cell culture.
- Widely used for supporting the growth of various mammalian cells, including MDCK, glial cells, fibroblasts, human endothelial cells, and rat fibroblasts.
- Does not contain proteins, lipids, or growth factors, hence supplementation with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is common.
- Requires a 5–10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH due to its sodium bicarbonate buffer system.
- Manufactured at a cGMP-compliant facility, using strict quality control testing for raw material components, and undergoes rigorous quality checks including sterility, pH, osmolality, endotoxin, and cell culture tests.
- Hygia cell culture media are produced using water for injection, filtered through 0.1 μm sterile filtration and aseptically filled in a Hundred-stage FFU with integrity tests being conducted before and after filtration.
