PCI-E 3.0 M.2 M-Key to Oculink SFF-8612 SFF-8611 Host Adapter for GPD Win Max2 External Graphics Card & SSD

The NFHK PCI-E 3.0 M.2 M-Key to Oculink SFF-8612 SFF-8611 Host Adapter is designed specifically for the GPD WIN Max2 Laptop, expanding its system by one SFF-8612 interface. The adapter can be connected to SSDs and graphics cards, transmitting PCI Express 4x signals using the NVMe protocol, with a data transfer rate of up to 32 Gbps. It supports NVM Express (NVMe) 1.2 and has specific system requirements for Linux Kernel 4.3 or above and Windows 8.1/8.1-64/10/10-64. A review noted that the adapter lacked power to certain areas of the PCIe slot when attempting to use an external GPU, resulting in GPUs not being detected. However, the adapter was successful with other PCIe-based expansion boards such as the Asus Hyper Card V2. Despite concerns about the flimsiness of the daughter board and its compatibility with heavy cards, the adapter worked well with the RTX 4080 FE card, requiring additional support to prevent slanting and tilting. It was also recommended for use with a budget setup and did not require driver issues upon setup. However, it was reported that the adapter did not work with Linux, and some customers expressed dissatisfaction with the product's quality and functionality, including concerns about inadequate accessories and compatibility issues with specific NVMe models. Overall, the NFHK PCI-E 3.0 M.2 M-Key to Oculink SFF-8612 SFF-8611 Host Adapter receives mixed reception, with successful use cases for specific setups, but also compatibility issues and concerns about the design and support for certain devices.
